With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of Salvatore Scrima, who departed this life in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born in Palermo, Sicily, Salvatore was the beloved son of the late Vincenzo and Paola Scrima.
Salvatore lived a life marked by love, determination, and joy. A devoted husband, he shared more than five decades of marriage with his beloved Gioacchina, who preceded him in death. He cherished her cooking, her companionship, and the life they built together.
Despite facing progressive blindness later in life, Salvatore met each day with courage and perseverance. His love of music—especially opera—filled his home, and his joy for travel, food, and family never faded. He adored pasta—never missing a chance to enjoy a plate—and carried a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life.
Salvatore was a proud and loving father to Giulietta (Mario) and Vincent (Melissa), and the most devoted Nonno to his four grandchildren: Luca, Gioacchina, Lorenzo, and Lorella, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his dear brothers Giorgio and Giovanni, and is reunited in peace with his beloved sisters Anna, Tina, and Lia.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength, and will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, and all who were lucky enough to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, in honor of Salvatore’s courage and perseverance: https://www.fightingblindness.org/
