Susana Baun, 97, of Des Plaines, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 15th, 2026. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alberto Baun; her parents, Thomas Diaz and Remejia Frias; her siblings; and her children, Marcelo, Conchita, Eugene, and Ferdinand. She is survived by her daughters, Teresita (Virgilio) and Elisa; her grandchildren, Lady May (Ryan), Virgilio Jr. (Sarah), Jennifer (Steve), and Mary Anne (Ricky); and her great-grandchildren, Ava, Emma, Audrey, Asher, Olivia, Maya Elise, and many more in the Philippines.
Born in San Carlos City, Philippines on December 8th, 1928, Susana grew up surrounded by love from her parents and siblings. Even after she relocated to the United States, she remained dedicated to her family. She was married to Alberto, the love of her life, for over sixty years, and her children remember her as an amazing, strong, and loving woman who found great fulfillment in caring for others. Susana could often be found baking delicious Filipino desserts or playing with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Visitation to take place from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 21st at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines. Family and friends to meet at the funeral home at 9:00 am, on Thursday, October 22nd before processing to 10:00 am Mass at Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church, 8300 North Greenwood Avenue, Niles. Interment at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, 700 North River Road, Des Plaines.
