William G. Pohlman

William G. Pohlman, age 86, a resident of Elk Grove Village for 56 years, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024. He was born on August 8, 1937 in Chicago, IL to William B. and Margaret (Schlanow) Pohlman. On September 9, 1961, Bill married his beloved wife, Judith Gard, at Gross Park Methodist Church in Chicago, Illinois.

Bill is survived by his wife Judith; children Steven (Susan Bollinger) Pohlman, Brian Pohlman, and Karin (Michael) Berry; grandchildren Nathan, Bradley, Alicia, Tyler, Janine and Wilson; brother Erich (Beth) Pohlman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill served in the United States Navy from 1956-1960, and he worked for American Airlines for 37 years. During the late 70’s through early 80’s, Bill was active in his community, coaching park district baseball and football. He was a member of the Elk Grove High School booster club and a member of Prince of Peace United Methodist Church. Bill’s favorite past times were fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, and cheering on the Chicago Bears and Cubs.

Friends and family will gather for a visitation for William that will begin at 4pm on Saturday, February 17th, 2024 at Prince of Peace United Methodist Church, 1400 South Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village, Illinois 60007. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 5pm. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to Prince of Peace United Methodist Church.
