Barbara Maro Fayroian-Roth, much beloved wife, mother and music teacher, was born June 5, 1952 in Detroit to Arthur and Melina Fayroian. Barbara attended Livonia Public Schools and The University of Michigan, where she majored in viola. She founded the Second Street Academy of Music in Chelmsford, MA, which she directed for many years. Upon husband Roger's retirement as an orchestra teacher in Chelmsford, MA, they moved to Dexter where Barbara opened a violin and viola teaching studio. Barbara taught hundreds of students of all ages throughout her long career and will be remembered as a superb, caring teacher, mentor and musician. Barb had several life passions in addition to her love of teaching and students, among them good food, life-long friends and an indefatigable need to love and protect animals, especially dogs. Her students were always welcomed into the Roth home by joyful barking and wagging tails. She died at home on August 27, 2015 from myriad complications of life-long, Type I Juvenile Diabetes which were no match against her courage and indomitable spirit. Diabetes never, ever defined Barb and she was an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by her mother, her husband of 35 years, Roger Roth; son Michael Baptista; step-children Jacob Roth and Sarah Roth and two grandchildren, David and Jonathan Roth; sisters Sherry Fayroian, Debra Fayroian (Wesley Jacobs), Cindi Fayroian (Robert Watson) and brother Peter Fayroian (Rachael Waring); and five nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather for an informal celebration of Barbara's life at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 29 at the Roth home at 7202 N. Meadow Trail, Dexter, MI. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations in Barbara's memory be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Dexter Orchestras Boosters, or the Michigan Humane Society.
