Dale A. Krull

August 28, 1934June 15, 2019

Dale Arthur Krull, August 28, 1934 – June 15, 2019, of Chelsea, MI passed away at age 85, peacefully and surrounded by his family. Dale was the second oldest of 10 brothers and sisters. He graduated from Dexter High School in 1953. Dale enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. Upon returning from his time of service, he married Carol (Murdock) in 1960 and they had 2 children. Dale became a union mason and worked in the field for 10 years. He then formed Dale Krull Construction in 1968, performing masonry and concrete construction for commercial and industrial projects. Dale retired in the mid 90’s. During that time he also served as President of the WCA (Washtenaw Contractors Association) for multiple terms. Dale was a huge University of Michigan fan and had season tickets for both football and basketball. He loved to have large tailgate’s at home games with many family and friends. He would also attend many away games and bowl games with a load full of family and friends in his RV. Dale’s other passion was boating and fishing on his boat “Krull Aboard” docked in Manistee, MI. Over a 20 year span Dale took hundreds of fishing trips on Lake Michigan with family and friends, and caught many large salmon fish that would take 10-15 minutes to reel in with Dale yelling his “colorful” words of advice in the background. Dale was preceded in death by his brother Virgil and his parents Arthur and Charlotte. Dale is survived by his two sons, Jeffery (Molly) and Randy (Anna), along with his grandchildren Briana, Eden, Alexander, Savannah, Lexington and great grandchild Sebastian, his brothers Ken, Leroy, Ron and his sisters Doris, RuthAnn, Mary, Rita and Sharon, along with many nephews, nieces and cousins living in multiple locations throughout the US. A gathering of friends/family will take place June 28th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Home in Dexter, MI 48130. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in Dale’s memory to Arbor Hospice, Ann Arbor, MI 48103.

Dale A. Krull

have a memory or condolence to add?

Krull Construction was a valued customer in our store, Leslie Office Supply, Inc. Dale and yours truly were namesakes- not too many first-name Dales out there in local business. Often, he would do the company shopping sporting untied work boots right from a Krull job. Not a lazy bone in this man's body, I can assure you. Great guy. Enjoyed people. Enjoyed owning a family business. Enjoyed life!

To Jeff, Randy, and all of Dale's siblings (all my cousins) our most sincere condolences. So sorry to hear of Dale's passing. Dale was born on a ranch 14 miles west of Petersburg, Ne. during the great nationwide depression and a severe drought in the plains states. Those conditions prompted his parents move, eventually settling in Dexter. Although all of the buildings on the ranch are now gone, I plan to visit the site where they once stood and lay a bouquet in Dale's memory. I still owe Dale a 12 pack of Bud Light from a bet on a Nebraska Michigan football game. I'll hoist a few at the ranch site and call it good. I'm sure Dale will agree.

Jim and I are so very saddened by Dale's passing. He was very special to us and we share many memories of his kindness over the years. I first met Dale in 1987 after having lost my then husband (Ron Drews). I'd sold the house we shared and ran into a situation with the well. I tearfully shared my unfortunate experience with a friend, who told Dale. A Krull truck showed up at the house and took care of the problem at hand. A friend to many who did not know. Always thankful. RIP
