

Lirette, Edward F. 12/3/1916 - 8/26/2017 Ann Arbor\Chelsea Lirette, Edward Frederick age 100 of Ann Arbor and Chelsea son of Frederick and Elsie (nee Marz) Lirette passed away on August 26, 2017. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 60 years Dorothy (nee McIntee) Lirette and his son David Lirette. Edward is survived by his present wife Alice (McGinn) Lirette whom he married in 2002, Suzanne Lirette Fortunato (Peter), Carol Bower, Linda Riley, six grandchildren; Aimee Brainard, Heather Lemon, Jennifer Fortunato, Geoffrey Fortunato, Adam Lirette, Melanie Hatto and seven great-grandchildren. Edward received his Electrical Engineering Degree and his Master's Degree from the University of Michigan. He was instrumental in the development and operation of various infrared devices for the military. During WWII he taught basic electricity and electrical systems of the B24 Bomber of the Ford Airplane School at Willow Run Airport, Michigan. He retired from ERIM Environmental Research Institute of MI in Ann Arbor. While involved in government and intelligence work, Edward followed his interest in aviation and earned his Private Pilot license at the age of 77. He enjoyed inventing and spending his time in his basement machine shop. A favorite activity was water skiing with his grandchildren each summer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for several years. During his 100 plus years he touched many lives and will be dearly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11:00AM with visitation from 10:00 until time of Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Village Church, 3430 Dover St., Dexter, MI.
