Age 56, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 27, 2010. He was born on April 7, 1954 in Bay City, Michigan to Harold and Virginia Reed. Gerald received his degree in teaching from Eastern Michigan University.He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia and their two daughters, Erin (husband Mark) and Tina (fiance Matt). Gerald is also survived by his mother and father, Harold and Virginia, as well as brothers Don (wife Kathy) and Allan, and his sister Charlene. Better known as Jerry, he loved restoring old trucks and collecting antique toys and had a great sense of humor. He worked at the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital for 35 years where he devoted himself to improving the lives of young patients everyday. He made a point of making others around him feel important and always made a point to wave hello. He was a wonderful husband, an awesome dad, and a devoted son. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Family will receive friends for visitation 2-4 p.m. Friday at Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 3410 Broad Street in Dexter and Friday 6-8 p.m. at the old St. Joseph Catholic Church at the corner of Fourth and Dover Streets in Dexter. There will be a 7:30 p.m. scripture service. A visitation will also be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the new St. Joseph Catholic Church, at the corner of N. Territorial and Mast Roads outside of Dexter. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the U-M Mott Children's Hospital.
