

Harold Martin McDonald Jr, known as “Skip” to family and friends, made his final flight to the big roundhouse in the sky on Monday, May 23, 2011. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet; five sons: Harold III “Marty” (Melissa) of Port St John, FL; Mike of Dexter, MI; Mark (Sue) of Pinckney , MI ; Paul (Laurie) of Midlothian , TX ; and Andrew (Kathy) of Scottsdale , AZ ; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his Aunt Ruth Gardenhire of Sarasota , FL, and his two brothers Bob (Kathy) McDonald of Gladwin, MI and Don (Barb) McDonald of Flint, MI. Skip was born in Ann Arbor in 1935 and raised in Flint , MI . He was a Vietnam Veteran and was very proud of his 20 years service in the United States Air Force. Skip retired from the Air Force as a Technical Sergeant. He was an avid lover of trains, and was a life time member of the National Model Railroading Association since 1964. Skip also loved airplanes, especially the B-52 and the F-105. His other passions were his Family, Friends, and Canoeing. Skip owned Michigan Model Train Center and was the founder of Skip’s Huron River Canoe Livery at Delhi Metro Park. A visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, June 1st from 4-8:00 P. M. at Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Dexter, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Friends of the National Museum of the USAF.
