

Reed, Harold J. Whitmore Lake On June 30, 2017, Harold Reed, 89, passed away at home in Whitmore Lake, MI. He was born on Christmas Eve 1927 in Bay City, MI . As a child, he helped at his Dad's dry cleaning business in Bay City. Harold served in the U.S. Army during WWII. A plumber-pipe fitter by trade, he started a family plumbing business in Ypsilanti. He worked at the General Motors Willow Run Plant for over 30 years and retired from there in 1986. He was married to Virginia Betty Gavord, also of Bay City for 67 years, and she survives. With a sharp wit and an ability to fix almost anything in the garage or in the househe restored several vehicles, from rusty old trucks into beautiful showpieces. - - Harold will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, his sons Allan (Mary), Donald (Kathleen), daughter Charlene and daughter-in-law Patricia, his 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Norma Socia, Marshall (Gail) Reed, Jerry (Sondra) Reed, Debbie (Duff) Zube, Tom (Sharon) Lind and Delores Reed. He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry, his father and stepmother Harold and Adeline Reed, his mother Anice Lind and his sister Joan Doty. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Hosmer Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 3410 Broad St, Dexter, MI, with a scripture service at 7:00 pm. There will be a visitation at 10:00 am followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 6 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 3430 Dover, Dexter, MI.
