Joan Ruth Hoeft

Joan Ruth Hoeft of Dexter, MI, passed away peacefully on May 1st while surrounded by her family. Joan was proceeded in death by her husband Calvin Charles Hoeft, mother Ruth H. Hoeft, and father Walter A. Sanford.

Joan is survived by her son Calvin Hoeft, his wife Sally Hoeft, and their children Brian Hoeft, his spouse Meghann Hoeft; Kevin Hoeft and his spouse Joan Hoeft; Lisa Romelhardt and her spouse Tim Romelhardt. Great Grandchildren: Wyatt Hoeft, Lucas Hoeft, Joel Hoeft, Hannah Hoeft, Scarlett Romelhardt, and Evelyn Romelhardt.

Joan is also survived by her daughter Kristine Mikeska, husband Fred Mikeska, and their children Megan Porto, her husband Steven Porto; Nicholas Mikeska, and his wife Natalie Redmond. Great Grandchildren: Lucia Porto, Eleanor Porto, Charles Porto, and Mary Mikeska.

After attending Cleary College, Joan studied bookkeeping and worked side-by-side for fifty years with her husband at their custom home building corporation, Calvin C. Hoeft Building, Inc.

Joan always enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings and family parties, sharing laughter, love, and fun at the family’s cottage on Portage Lake in Pinckney, Michigan. The good times and great memories from the celebrations on the lake inspired generations of wonderful stories and warm memories. The scarves knitted by Joan will keep family, friends, and the community cozy forever.

Services in celebration of Joan’s life with Christ and family will be held at Dexter United Methodist Church in Dexter, MI, on Tuesday, May 11th at 11:00 AM. Viewing at 10:15 AM.
