Sherwin, Mary Lillian age 99 passed away on Tuesday November 20, 2018 in Naperville, Illinois. Mary was born the daughter of the late Milan and Amelia Valencic in the family home on south Wood Street in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois on August 1, 1919. She received her First Communion and Confirmation at St. Theodore where she also attended grade school. Mary also attended St. Visitation High School for two years. She married Louis D. Sherwin of Dexter, Michigan on February 13, 1937; they were married for 63 years when Louis died in 2000. She was the Mother of four sons: William, the late Jack who preceded her in death in 2018, Stephen and Robert. She was the Grandmother of many grandchildren and Great Grandmother to several great grandchildren. Mary worked as a sales manager for Carson Pierre Scott where she retired after many years of service. She enjoyed writing poetry and verses. As a young woman she was recognized by Reader's Digest for her writing skills and was offered employment but declined so she could focus on her family. A visitation for Mary will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 14200 East Old U.S. Hwy. 12, Chelsea, Michigan, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
