Patrick was born in Dearborn, Michigan, one of eight children, to the late Sylvester and Clara Marie Gorny; he was raised in Canton, Michigan.
Patrick worked as a journeyman painter with District Council 22. Outside of work, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He made several memorable bear hunting trips to Canada, including one alongside his son.
Patrick was especially proud of a personal milestone of becoming a recovering alcoholic through his own determination and maintaining his sobriety for many years.
In his later years, Patrick enjoyed trips to the casino, where he could often be found trying his luck at the slot machines. He was always willing to lend a hand to family and would help with anything they needed, though he was known for his stubborn streak and being set in his ways. He loved being at home, joking with family, and giving them a hard time.
He is survived by his sons, Patrick Gorny Jr. and Ron Gorny; his grandson, Kyle (Samantha) Gorny; his great-granddaughters, Maya and Caroline; his siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Patrick’s life will take place this summer.
