May 26, 2018. Age 70. Beloved husband of Susan for 28 years. Bil also left behind his son, Robert (Linda) of Fowlerville, MI and daughter, Rebecca Brace of Streetsboro, OH. Missing him also are his seven grandchildren, Cameron, Abbey, Casey, Alexa, Max, Olivia, and Lucas. Bil was tremendously proud of them and would regale friends and neighbors with their sports and academic accomplishments.
Bil enjoyed working with his hands. That could take the form of fixing a motor, repairing a bicycle, or building a bird house. (Full disclosure – he hated plumbing.) He also loved dogs and had many during his lifetime, who all adored him, including Maizey who is missing him now. Bil had a million-dollar smile and a booming laugh that would warm up a room, which went well with his great sense of humor and quick wit. He had to live with being exceptionally good at every sport he tried. He was a natural football and baseball player throughout high school and while serving in Marine Corps. He became an enthusiastic softball player during his 40’s for several company-sponsored teams. During his 50’s and 60’s, he developed a passion for the game of tennis, which became an important part of his life. He made many friends on and off the court, who all have great memories of his humor and sportsmanship to remember him by.
When his heart became too weak to chase a tennis ball, he decided to take up another hobby – to learn to play the organ. He thoroughly enjoyed the group classes led by music instructor Patti Fry at the Senior Center. He was happy about his newfound ability to make music and often remarked that his dad would have been so touched that he was playing.
Bil was a proud Marine Corps Veteran (1966-1969). An outdoor memorial service with honor guard will be held on July 8th at the Polo Fields Country Club from 11:00 AM to noon, followed by a luncheon in the clubhouse until 3:00 PM. Please rsvp to Susan at 734-355-0230, thank you.
