Albert McDormand

January 29, 1957June 25, 2019

Albert Charles McDormand, age 62 of Digby, passed away and began his journey home on June 25, 2019. He was born on January 29, 1957 in Halifax, then adopted and loved by his late parents Albert and Helen (Daye) McDormand of Westport, Nova Scotia.

He married his soulmate and love of his life, Monica Yvonne, who predeceased him only four short months ago. Albert is at peace now, back in her loving arms.

He is survived by his sister, Brenda Guptill from Alberta, and several nieces and nephews. Growing up on “the Island”, Albert loved being on or near the water. For many years Albert worked as a lobster and scallop fisherman. He also tried his hand at many different things. He spent time at Bay Ferries, the Coast Guard and Walmart. Those that truly knew Albert, knew how much he loved music and playing his guitars. Their home had a revolving door, and he loved to entertain family and friends, whenever they stopped by. He enjoyed dancing, socializing and his early morning calls from his friend George.

I met Albert at Walmart where we worked. He always had a joke, could make you smile, and his love for Mona, his music and his cat were always a topic he was happy to share. I am sure they have their arms wrapped around each other. Reach for the clouds and your guitar.

I met Albert when I started at Walmart. Always had a great and twisted sense of humour. Went to see him in the hospital when he was sick, and had a few good laughs. He was a good friend, and a great guy. It broke my heart when Monie passed, and broke it further when he got sick. But I know he’s in a better place. But I will miss him. RIP Albert.
