Alfred "Dick" Sheldon Saulnier, age 82 of Deep Brook, passed away Tuesday, August 9th, 2022. Those who were near and dear to him knew him as Dick and his brother Fred affectionately called him Charles. Born in Digby, Dick was the son of Dennis and Helen (Robinson) Saulnier. Dick played hockey for many years, he enjoyed biking, walking and eating healthy. He loved going to dances at the Fish and Game Club and he enjoyed his time spent at the lake. Dick had a long and proud career working as a red seal chef at CFB Cornwallis. He loved his work immensely and only retired when the base closed. After his retirement he became a lifelong member of the Digby Legion where he volunteered for 14 years as the food and beverage manager. Dick also loved spending time doing yard work with his much loved John Deere tractors and his Dodge Ram truck. He enjoyed giving his time to others and helping when needed by driving family and friends to appointments and doing things for others who needed assistance. Dick was selfless and always there to help others in need. Dick was a devoted father and husband! He is survived by his son Mitchell, sister Ann (Paul) Stuart, Donna (Donnie) Pickrem and his companion of 15 years Donna Lee Wigmore, Grandchildren, Corey Saulnier and Leanne Saulnier and many loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara (Cress) Saulnier, parents Dennis and Helen Saulnier, son Paul Saulnier and brother Fred Saulnier. Cremation has taken place, a private family graveside service will be held, with Father Raymond to officiate. Donations in memory of Dick can be made to a charity of your choice.
