After graduating from high school, Alger joined the Royal Canadian Airforce and was stationed in Cold Lake, AB., where he spent three years, then returned home to go fishing with his father. In 1990, the fishing industry was declining and he and his son Darrin started Pirates Cove Whale & Seabird Cruises. His daughter Shelley and son Todd also joined the business. After 25 years, in the fall of 2014, Alger retired and sold the Fundy Cruiser. Alger was a member and Elder of the Tiverton Christian Church, Tiverton Fire Department, and Tiverton Board of Trade.
He is survived by his loving wife Gail (Outhouse) of 60 Years; Daughter Shelley (Douglas) Scheible; Sons Darrin (Cory) and Todd (Alisha); Grandchildren Cherida & Justin Sollows, Lauren, Quinn & Hudson Sollows, Olivia and Emily McGrath, Sawyer & Travis Scheible; Great-grandchildren Sawyer & Annie Roma, Isabelle Sollows & Silas Wagner; Sisters Janet Pyne and Diane (Leyland) Lent and several Nieces and Nephews.
Special thank you to VON, Palliative Care, Madi and Heather and sister Janet who was always there when needed. In memory of Alger donations can be made to the Tiverton Christian Church or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 19 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with funeral service Wednesday, March 20 at 2pm all from Tiverton Christian Church. Mr. Lou Outhouse presiding with burial to follow.
