It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Alvin Richard Titus on September 16, 2020. Born in Digby he was a son of Carol (Young) and the late Alvin Titus Sr.

He started his working career as a commercial fisherman. Alvin became a Master Mariner, while in the Oil industry with Trans Ocean mainly off the coast of Africa until 2014. He loved hunting, four wheeling being back to the lake and trout fishing from his boat. Alvin would rock in his rocking chair singing songs that you may or may not have heard of. He had the biggest heart touching the lives of many and was always willing to cook a big meal feeding anyone that would drop by. Alvin loved his family especially his grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by the love of his life; wife, Bonnie; daughters, Melissa (Anthony), Kristy (Kary), Nicole (Shawn); son, Mathew (Julie); sisters, Lisa (Blake), Lori; brothers, Wilfie (Debbie), Jerry (Tammy) ; grandchildren, Carter, Landon, Ryker, Lennox and several nieces and nephews. I am sad to learn Alvin has crossed the bar. I worked with Alvin in Africa in the Sedco Energy. What I remember the most was an infectious laugh. We sometimes travelled home to Nova Scotia together. A good Bluenoser, shipmate and friend. My condolences to his family.

Like Charlie, I had the pleasure of working with Alvin as a DPO on the Sedco Energy, for him as Chief Mate and for him as Captain. He had a wonderful heart and was a great mentor. He had a wonderful personality, supportive and thoughtful and will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. I fondly recall his hunting tales and his love for his family. I've never met anyone quite so fond of tomato ketchup! Thoughts are with Bonnie and family at this difficult time. God bless you all xxx

This is such sad news, I worked with Alvin for around 10 years down in Africa, when I started me and Alvin were DPOs together then he became Chief mate and then Captain of the Sedco Energy, I will never forget the story he told us about the time he was bear hunting and he went to shoot it but forgot the ammo. He was a likeable guy who everyone got on with and had a heart of gold. 2 years ago I was working in the North Sea and our company man said he was from Digby well automatically I thought of Alvin and he knew Alvin, small world! He always spoke highly of Bonny and the family, please accept my heart felt condolences to all his family.
