I met Joan through my good friend Gary. I started helping him mow her lawn in 2014. It was one of my favorites for it was large and quite a challenge. It was nice to go inside after we were done and sit and have a chat. She would always tease Gary and he'd give her a kiss before he left. When Joan had a fall this year, a few months back, Gary would take time to stop in and help her many times a day. At first he would even stay overnight so as to help her in the middle of the night. He loved her very much. I hope she is in heaven now watching smiling down on him. Because of Joan, he is a better person. Thanks. Theresa Robicheau (Gary Murphy)

With our heartfelt sympathy to the family in the passing of dear Joan. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Digby, and her devotion to her faith proved to be an example to the rest of us. We will certainly miss her presence and her beautiful smile, but she will never be forgotten.

My condolences to Joan's family.
I only worked with her one summer at The Headley House but whenever we happened to "run into" each other afterward, she always said "Hi!", calling me by name, then she would stop for a few moments and we would have a quite a chat; catching up on what was going on (or had happened) in our lives! It wasn't just "polite conversation", with Joan she was interested and she truly cared!
Such a nice, nice lady. She will be missed.

Joan was an amazing woman and neighbour. Faced with many obstacles and trials in her life she always had a smile and compassion for others. A devoted member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church she always made it to Mass even in inclement weather or on days when the hearty would find an excuse. Her strong faith was an inspiration to me.
May she Rest In Peace and God Bless.

I am sadden to learn of Joan's passing. It was also twenty years when I last saw Joan. Even though I live in Ontario and visit Nova Scotia yearly, I do think of the family and friends through out the year. Just want to let you know that you are being remembered at this time.
