OBITUARY

Arthur "Butch" Richmond Journeay

July 10, 1961October 9, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Arthur “Butch” Journeay on October 9th, 2020 at the age of 59. Born in Digby on July 10, 1961, he was a son of the late Rita Robichaud, Arthur Journeay and step-mother Linda Journeay.

Butch grew up in Weymouth but spent most of his life living in Digby with his beloved wife and partner of 42 years, Cheryl. He worked many years at Mariner’s Choice unloading boats and welding and in more recent years at Larches’ Industrial Marine. He had a love for nature and in his spare time you would find him parked at the wharf, fishing or his favorite – spending time with his “girls” Mia, Kenzie and Ayla. Butch loved his family, helping people and enjoyed the simple things in life. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl; son, Ryan (Candice); daughter, Stephanie (Aubrey); grandchildren, Mia, MacKenzie and Ayla; brothers, Alex (Elaine), Tyrone (Monette); sisters, Cindy, Sandra (Guy); several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank EHS, QEII and Yarmouth ICU for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Butch was a good friend and excellent woodsman. I have great memories of ATV rides and fishing trips that he organized. Butch always knew the best places to go. He was really smart and helped me through many electronic puzzles. Our sympathy to Cheryl and all the family. RI.P. Bud. Sidney & Sherry Longmire.

Dear Cheryl, Stephanie and Ryan,

So very sorry to learn of Butch's passing. My deepest sympathies to you all. Butch was very helpful to me at Mariner's Choice. He could always find a solution to a mechanical problem. Butch had a lot of good qualities, and I know he thought a lot of his family. He was a good friend, and I will miss him. I only wish we could have met up again in retirement.

Thinking of you during these difficult days.

Sincerely,
Yvon Robichaud
