Bernice Eleanor Melanson, age 84 of Ashmore, NS passed away Thursday, August 10 2023, at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home. Born in Baxter’s Harbour, NS she was the eldest child of the late Elmer and Clara (Woodworth) Brewster.
Mom came to Ashmore as a young bride in 1956 where she raised a family and made lifelong friends. She loved the beach and spent many hours there with her children and friends, swimming, beach combing and roasting hotdogs. Mom dedicated her life to being a homemaker. After we were grown mom worked at various jobs; however, the one she loved most was at the Gilbert’s Cove Lighthouse. She loved greeting visitors, sharing history and serving them tea and a muffin. Mom was very creative and will be remembered for her artistic skills. Mom belonged to the Rustic Crafters club designing and creating many beautiful hooked rugs. Anyone stopping in for a visit was sure to be served a cup of tea and one of Mom’s delicious pineapple muffins. If you were really lucky you enjoyed her amazing potato pancakes and home made mustard pickles. Mom was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
