Clifton Edwin Moore

Moore, Clifton Edwin- age 64 of Westport, Digby Co,. passed away at Digby General Hospital. Born in Freeport, NS, he was the son of Janet (Prime) Moore and the late Ivan Gerald Moore, and son in law of Barbara (Frost) McDormand and the late Ray Douglas McDormand. Clifton was the commissioner of the Village of Westport valued fire department member 12 of those years as Westport fire Chief. He was one of the founding members of Fundy Ground Search and Rescue, and helped with Swiss Air rescue and recovery. Clifton was employed with Connor Brothers, Freeport, D.B Kenny Fisheries, Westport, for many years, filled in as a lighthouse keeper, Westport and School bus driver on Long Island. He was a valued community member who will be greatly missed. He is survived by wife Linda McDormand of 38 years; daughters, Rosemary (Matthew) Thompson, Lawrencetown; Crystal Moore (Richard) Digby; Sarah (James) Chiasson, Eastern Passage; sister-in-law’s Mary (Thompson) Moore Freeport; Betty O’Connell (Charlie) Halifax; brothers Glendon (Heather) Moore, Freeport; Alan (Joyce) Moore Freeport; brother-in-laws, Marty (Dawn) McDormand, Westport, Evan (Nadene) McDormard, Westport. Grandchildren Kendra Stanton, Shannon Stanton, Aiden Chiasson, Declan Moore, Lillian Chiasson and Rayna Moore, many nieces and nephews. Besides his father Ivan, Clifton was predeceased by brother Gerald Moore, father-in-law Ray McDormand, niece Savannah McDormand and Linda’s adopted mother Evelyn Strickland. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Jayne’s Funeral Home 7 Birch St. Digby. A graveside service will be held 1 pm Friday, June 16, from Brookside Cemetery, Freeport with Lou Outhouse and Craig Glavin officiating. Family flowers only.
