Delbert Gary Tidd

August 26, 1947September 27, 2019

Tidd, Delbert “Gary” of Digby, NS passed away on September 27, 2019 at the age of 72 in Digby General Hospital after a nine year battle with cancer. Gary was born on August 26, 1947 in Digby, NS.

He was the oldest son of the late Delbert and Helen (Barr) Tidd. Gary enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 19. During his career, he was stationed in Borden, Halifax, Gagetown and Ottawa. Gary retired after 29 years of service. Gary was a diehard Detroit Red Wings Fan that was only rivalled by his passion for his 1969 Mustang that won numerous trophies at car shows. Gary adored his two grandchildren and was always quick to brag of them.

Gary is survived by sons, Sean Tidd, Orleans, ON, Scott (Renee) Tidd, Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Victoria and Sabastian Tidd; brother, Alan Tidd Seabrook, NS; sister, Linda Leblanc Digby, NS; niece Robin Tidd Truro, NS, special friend Lillian VanTassell and her family. Gary was predeceased by parents Delbert and Helen (Barr) Tidd; brother, Terry Tidd and sister-in-law Lynn Tidd. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jayne’s Funeral Home where cremation has taken place. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and Von for the excellent care given to Gary over the years. Visitation will be Wednesday October 2 from 7-9pm, with funeral service 11am Thursday, Oct. 3 all from Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby with Pastor Simone Wilson officiating.

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be had; so he put his arm around you, and whispered, “Come to me”. With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away; although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best. Share a memory or leave a condolence www.jaynesfuneralhome.com
