Edith Belinda Sproule Read

Read, Edith Belinda –96 of Berwick, formally of Bear River passed away January 21, 2012 in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Clementsvale, Edith was a daughter of the late A. Fletcher and Harriet (Graves) Sproule. Edith was a resident of Bear River for most of her life where she and her husband owned a farm, dairy, mixed farming then later market gardening. Edith was a member of Rebekah Lodge, Bear River and a member of the Bear River United Baptist Church. Edith is survived by sons, Wayland (Mary Ella) Read, Cobble Hill, BC; Edmund (Paulette) Read, Berwick, NS; grandchildren, Jennifer Butterworth, Steven Read, Cindy Seckinger, Heather Peill, Paul Read and 10 great grandchildren. Edith also is survived by sisters, Elmerna Oickle, Beulah Chisholm also several nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Bruce Read; brothers, Waldo, Donald, Kenneth, Franklyn, Olyn and sister, Berthamae Dukeshire. Visitation 7-9pm Wednesday in Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby (245-2525). Funeral Service will be 2pm Thursday in Bear River United Baptist Church, Pastor Mark Cress officiating. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River. Donations in memory of Edith may be made to Bear River United Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
