

Denton, Elwood Keith, Age 94, of Tideview Terrace, Conway and formerly of Little River, Digby Co. passed away peacefully February 13, 2017 in Tideview Terrace. Born in Little River, he was a son of the late Clayton and Susan (Manzer) Denton. Elwood proudly served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in the UK and North West Europe. Although having been offered a career with the Canadian Armed Forces, Elwood chose to return to Little River and fish with his father. He continued to work in various aspects of the fishing industry until his retirement. Elwood spent much of his retirement tending his vegetable garden. He also loved to read and do jigsaw puzzles until macular degeneration made it impossible. Surviving are his daughter, Ann (Vance) Hazelton, his grandchildren, Bradley (Mildred), Chantelle (Chad) and James whom he loved dearly; great grandchildren, Liam and Grace (Chantelle’s) and Isabella (Bradley’s) who put a smile on his face and gave him hugs that made his day; brother, Richard (Carol) He was predeceased by his wife, Iris (Robicheau) Denton; son, Barry; sisters, Elsie and Marjorie; brothers, Stanley, Fred, Clayton Jr. and Greg. No visitation by request. Funeral service will be 11 am, Saturday, February 18, from Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. Digby (902-245-2525). Rev. Donald Robertson will officiate with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Little River at a later date. Donations in memory can be made to the IWK Halifax or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
