It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Frank Allen Perry – Age 64 of Digby. He died peacefully in Yarmouth Hospital on January 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 21, 1953 in Digby, he was the eldest son of the late Andrew Mervin Perry and Sydney (Griffiths) Perry. He graduated from Digby Regional High School in1974. He worked at the Sunset Beverage Room for a short time before joining Trans Canada Credit. He worked with them in Windsor and Dartmouth, NS and then as assistant manager in Newcastle, NB. From there, Frank moved out west to work with Schlumberger Canada. He enjoyed his time there, but for health reasons he had to return home to his loving family. Following his return, he went to Cape Breton and took a course in Barbering. Upon completion, he joined his father at Andy’s Barber Shop in Marshalltown. Frank always had a love and passion for animals. From the time he was a young man, he was accomplished at horse riding and won many trophies including the Western Nova Scotia Grand Championship at the Yarmouth Exhibition five years in a row, with two different horses! Frank loved spending time with his family. He could usually be found at one of our houses chatting, doing what he could to help out or just relaxing. He had a wonderful sense of humour, a great memory and loved to tell stories. He will be remembered as a kind, generous and gentle man who loved his family and friends dearly. Frank is survived by his siblings, Susan (Bruce) Handspiker, Wanda (Avery) Crowell, David (Cheryl) Perry and John (Charlotte) Perry; nephews and nieces, Andrew and Malcolm (Maureen) Tynan, Jennifer (David) Doyle and Jessica Perry as well as his great niece Taylor Tynan and great nephews Caelan and Cian Doyle. Frank will be greatly missed by us all. Funeral Service will be 1pm on Thursday January 11, 2018 at Jayne’s Funeral Home in Digby with Rev. Laura McCue presiding. A reception will follow at the Digby Legion. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Frank’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mental Health Nova Scotia or to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia. The family would like to thank the staff at Tideview Terrace, Digby General Hospital (Dr. John Black and Dr. Ron) and Yarmouth Regional Hospital for the excellent care that he received.
