Garrett Keenan Fraser

August 14, 1973June 14, 2020

Garrett Keenan Fraser, age 46 of Cornwallis Nova Scotia passed away peacefully June 14, 2020 at home with his loved ones by his side. He was the son of Gary and Anne (Morris) Fraser. Garrett is survived by his partner, Tammy; son, Keith, brother, Rory (Treena); niece, Addison and nephew, Aiden. He was predeceased by grandparents Keith (Wanetta) Fraser and Claude (Mary) Morris.

Garrett said Keith was the gift he never thought he would have. A devoted father, his first thought was of his son's well being, always supportive and always on his side.

He was an athlete who excelled in soccer and wrestling and won provincial championships in both. Garrett won an Atlantic Wrestling Championship and in 1992 was a member of the Nova Scotia Canada Games Core Team. Continuing soccer during summer months, he played in the Valley Soccer League with Kentville Renegades where in one season he won both Leading Scorer and Most Gentleman Player of the Year. After his athletic career ended, he became a community coach, guiding young athletes in not only athletics, but life lessons as well.

Garrett's work life began in the family business, and as so many other young men, travelled to Alberta where he worked as a mechanical insulator, coming home to work at Shaw Wood. In recent years he was working grounds maintenance for Annapolis Basin Conference Centre. Garrett's friends knew him to be loyal and caring, one who offered wit and wisdom, a joke for laughter, and an unforgettable sunrise from a storm. To his family and all who loved him he was and is an inspiration. A new hope was born in 1973. There can be only one.

A special thanks to Dr. Black, Dr. Burgess, Caroline Creene, Robyn Denton, Richard (Connie) Desmarais, Clifford (Alice) Morris, Gary (Elizabeth) Tower, Mitchell and Tyler Saulnier, and Linda Peterson. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in Garrett’s memory can be made to ALS, or a charity of your choice. As per Garrett’s wishes a private family burial has taken place. Thank you for being such a positive influence and mentor to Rory and myself. I’m sure we will continue to look up to you. You always made me feel like part of the family when we had the chance to have a few laughs together (at Rorys expense).

All my love to the Fraser clan.

There can be only one.

Well, not sure where to start. Garret was a good friend ,from elementary school to high school , and as a workmate. And i now regret life getting in the way ,of keeping in touch.(that's my loss).
My sympathies to Gary and Ann. Garret may be gone , but he will not be forgotten. Rest easy Garret.

I remember Geoff and Chris heading down the Shaw road to his grandmother's to play on a regular basis and in the spring coming back loaded with ticks. It was an untimely end to a life filled with accomplishments. Cliff and I extend our sympathy to the family.
