BANKS, Hilda “Irene” – Age 88, of Smith’s Cove, passed away August 16th, 2014 in Digby General Hospital. Born in Middleton, she was the only daughter of the late Starrett and Hilda (Slack) Gates. Irene worked as a telephone operator with MT&T, she loved her flower gardens, cooking and looking after her nieces and nephews. Irene is survived by her husband, Harry “Pete” Banks; sisters in-law, Annie; Phyllis; nieces and nephews, Lynn, Richard, Larry, Cathy, Sean, Jannine, Robert and Murray. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers, Tommy, Lewis and Phillip. Arrangements under the care of Jayne's Funeral Home, Digby. No visitation by request. Funeral Service will be 1pm, Wednesday August 20th from Digby Baptist Church. Rev. Donald Robertson and Rev. Jeff White to preside with interment in Mount Hope Cemetery.
