

Jim was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Foley); parents, Thomas and Beatrice (Nichols) Franklin; sisters, Marge Minard (Orbin); Ann Wynn (Eldon); brothers, Carl (Lib) and Harold (Eva). Left to mourn are children, Doug Franklin Ossoyoos BC, Kelly (Perry) Comeau; Acacia Valley; brother, Thomas (Nina) Franklin Wilmot, grandchildren Jamea Franklin, Nevada. Jessica Comeau, Acacia Valley, several nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces.
Jim started his aviation career in his 20s and met Joan at the Edmonton airport. They married in Edmonton, where Doug was later born. They moved to Hay River in NWT where Jim worked for Buffalo Air before moving to Kamloops BC where Kelly was born. During Jims flying career he flew everything from the old double winged biplanes to DC 9. He switched over to helicopter and flew them for 40 years while rebuilding his De Havilland Dove, his pride and joy; he flew commercially until he was 70 years old.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. Visitation will be April 3rd from 6-8 pm with funeral service April 4th at 2 pm all from Hillgrove United Baptist Church with burial to follow. Pastor Leon Langille officiating.
