Jim worked as a meat cutter for much of his life holding meat manager positions in various grocery stores. He spent many recent years cutting meat along side Scott White in South Range. Jim finished his working life in the lumberyard at Wilsons home hardware in Digby, enjoying his work there until becoming ill. He was heavily involved with Scouts Canada for over 20 years as a Cub Scout leader, sharing his enormous knowledge of the great outdoors with younger generations. Jim bowled in various leagues in Digby for approximately 40 years. He enjoyed travelling to tournaments and was a past President of the men’s league in Digby.
He enjoyed summer camping trips to Kejimkujik with his children, and eventually grandchildren. One of Jim’s favorite things was the annual canoe trip in the Kejimkujik back country, which began in 1975 when he and his lifelong friend Doug Wilson began what became an annual tradition. Many fond memories were made, and are cherished by the close friends and family, who joined on this trip over a span of 45 consecutive years.
