Joshua Levi Peck

July 9, 1953February 9, 2020

It is with heart felt sadness that we announce the passing of Josh. He passed away peacefully at home as a result of a heart attack on Sunday February 9th, 2020. Born July 9, 1953 at home in Bear River, NS.

He was the son of the late Watson and Francis (Parker) Peck. He worked for Peck Auto Glass for over 34 years and has enjoyed retirement for the past few years. He was a volunteer for the Bear River Fire Department. Josh loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Bear River Advent Christian Church. Music was also a big part of Josh’s life. He enjoyed playing his trumpet at church, with the Dixie Hicks and many late nights at home. He also had a love for wood working and made many beautiful gifts for his family and friends. He was always willing and able to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed taking pictures and saw beauty in nature and the simple things in life. He especially loved his trips out west to visit his daughters and their families. He always looked forward to the next adventure. Josh will be remembered for his funny, unique sense of humor, kind and gentle heart and willingness to help others. Many will remember his beautiful trumpet playing that he often shared.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Rachel (Wagner), daughters Danay (Vinit), Heidi (Jamie) and grandson Ary; brothers Eddie (Jean), Lindsey (Gayle), Brinley (Candi); sisters Joy Shaw (Morley), Lexi Morgan (Greg) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Rod and Oakley; nephews Glennie and Zakk.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 16th, 2020 at 3pm at the Advent Christian Church in Bear River by Pastors Ken Perkins and Earl Waterman. A reception will follow downstairs. Donations in Josh’s memory can be made to the Bear River Advent Christian Church or a charity of your choice.

All our Love and Sympathy to Rachel and Family. Josh was a kind friend and cousin who always had a cheerful concern for others. I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to play music with Josh, Rachel, Pat, and Dan in the Dixie Hicks Advent Church band. Josh would lay back and let others take the limelight but he really knew the music and was a student of many of the great jazz musicians. He took his music seriously and went to great lengths to uncover the underlying sources of inspiration and make up of all aspects of the songs he played. Like many things in life, we leave them for a future time. I regret not going to see Josh like I had planned to do sometime soon, and listen with him to his vast recorded music collection. His sudden death is such a sad reminder of all the things we shouldn't put off for later. I listen now to Louis Armstrong as I write. Dear Josh, Louis will never sound the same. Your gentle soul will shine through and I will always see your friendly smile from now on. Cousin Carlene sends her Love to all the Peck Family. Bless Josh in Jesus, our Friend and Savior.

I was saddened to hear about Josh's passing . As our families attended the same church during my childhood, I will always have fond memories of church gatherings and summer camps. In fact that was what we chatted about the last time I talked to you a few years ago.

My sincere sympathy to all your family and friends at this sad time.

Rest in peace Josh until we meet again.
