Melanson, Leander Alfred “Lee” – 60 of Freeport, Digby Co., passed away Friday March 16, 2012 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Freeport, he was a son of the late William and Jean Melanson. Lee is survived by daughter, Leah; brother, Reg and sister, Janet Garron. Lee was predeceased by sister, June Thurber. Lee was an active member of the Freeport Legion. He spent his entire life as a top rate fisherman. Lee’s hobbies included working his heavy equipment in support of the community, music playing for the local dances, camping at his serene spot over at Little Island, cruising around in his speed boat, hunting deer and ducks and lending a hand to anyone who needed help. Arrangements are under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby (245-2525). A Memorial Service will be 2pm, Saturday March 24, 2012 in the Freeport Baptist Church. Family flowers only.
