

Haynes, Capt. Leo Morse, 79, Digby, passed away June 7, 2012, in Kentville, AVRH. Born June 25, 1932 in Victoria Beach, Annapolis Co. he was a son of the late Morse and Florence (Clarke) Haynes. Capt. Leo Haynes was born in Victoria Beach and worked on the sea as scallop fisherman with his father for many years. He was Capt. of the Leyland and the Margaret and Marion. He loved his home and family , walking and studying the affairs of the world. He was an exceptional human being with an artist’s eye and the gift of a true story teller. His gentle ways and open hearted friendship will be missed by many. Surviving are his wife Louella M. Haynes; daughters Shirley Langpohl (Klaus), Gilbert’s Cove; Judy Thomas (Frank) , Middleton; brother Bert (Rosa) , Sherman (Barbara) Haynes both of Digby, granddaughter Kelly Elizabeth Jeffreys, London England; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother Arnold Haynes (Anita).Visitation will be 10 am -12 noon Monday, June 11, in Jayne’s Funeral Home 7 Birch St. Digby. Funeral service will be 3:00pm Monday from Woodlawn Cemetery, Digby. Rev. Donald Robertson will officiate. Donations in memory can be made to the Digby Food Bank or to the charity of your choice.
