

Trimper, Leona Mary, 85, of Bear River, passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2012 surrounded by her family. Born on October 4, 1926, in Scotch Village, Hants County, she was a daughter of the late Keith & Gertrude Harvey.
Leona was a devoted wife, compassionate and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a loyal friend. In the early years she taught school in Greenland, later she was a homemaker, gardener and wonderful cook, winning many prizes for her cooking and produce in the local exhibition. She loved Christmas and the best times were when all the family was home for the holidays. Leona was blessed with a positive attitude and a sense of adventure, enjoying carnival rides (including the roller coaster) with the grandchildren, cross-country skiing, flying with her son, and travelling. She was an avid reader and cross word puzzle devotee. She was well-informed of current events, reading the newspaper cover to cover on a daily basis.
Leona was an active long-time member of the Canadian Women’s Missionary Society, a deacon at both Bear River East and Clementsvale Baptist Churches, and a teacher of Sunday School and Vacation Bible School over the years.
Leona is survived by her husband of 66 years, Everett, Bear River; daughter, Marilyn (Anthony) Krajc, Burlington, Ontario; sons, Gregory, Clementsvale; Alan (Wendy), Perotte Settlement; grandchildren, Christopher Trimper, Bear River; Geoffrey Trimper (Jodi Wilson), Clementsvale; Elizabeth (Beth) Trimper (Philipp Schnetzer), Granville Ferry; Charlotte Allen (Shawn), Canmore, Alberta; great-granddaughters, Ava and Savanna Trimper; brother, Ronald Harvey (Eileen), Deep Brook; sisters, Gladys Fraser, Deep Brook; Eva Wilson (Colin), Deep Brook; Jean Marshall (Frank), Bear River; Joyce Anderson (William), Deep Brook; many nieces and nephews. Leona will be greatly missed by all.She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Doull and Leonard; sister Phyllis.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday August 15th at Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. Funeral Service at 2 p.m. Thursday August 16th at Clementsvale United Baptist Church. Pastor Herb Anderson presiding. Interment to follow in Clementsvale United Baptist Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church hall immediately following the burial service.
