

Louis Joseph Gaudet, age 93, of Ohio, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at Villa Acadienne in Meteghan, Nova Scotia, with his stepdaughter Kim by his side. He was the son of the late Charles and Lottie (Gaudet) Gaudet.
Louis lived a full and vibrant life, known for his outgoing personality and his love of laughter. Louis found great joy in the simple pleasures—spending time outdoors, gardening, being in the woods, listening to music, and dancing.
In his younger years, Louis enjoyed a variety of hobbies including playing darts, pool, bowling, clamming, fishing, and hunting. As a teenager, he traveled to Dartmouth where he worked making fins for bombs. Over the years, he held several jobs, including working at Gaudet’s home furnishings, serving as a mail carrier with Canada Post, and tending bar at Grosses Coques Club.
Louis was predeceased by his common-law partner, Dorothy Doucette. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, predeceased by his brothers Ulysse, Hector, Wilfred, Nelson, Luc, and Arthur, and his sisters Emilie, Corinne, Anita, Doris, Juliette and Rita as well as step son Paul Doucette.
Louis leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as his stepfamily, including stepchildren, Catherine Doucette Bourgeois (New Hampshire), Kim Doucette of Ohio, NS. He is also survived by his step-granddaughters, Amanda Moreau of Kentucky and Ashley Bourgeois of New Hampshire, along with several step-great-grandchildren, Keeley, Brayden, Brooklyn and Memphis.
The family would like to thank the caregivers who came into his home to care for Louis as well as the staff at the Villa for their kindness, care and compassion.
A funeral mass will be held at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Weymouth on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 11:00am with interment to follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Louis lived his final days with Dementia, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or charity of your choice.
