Cooper (Potter), Margaret Ann of Digby passed away suddenly April 27, 2022 in Villa St. Joseph du Lac near Yarmouth. Born in Digby on August 3rd, 1945 she was the daughter of the late Loran and Mildred (Wright) Potter. Margie will be sadly missed by her two sons, Ron Jr., Rob (Joanne); grandchildren, Amanda (husband Sean), Megan (life partner Amanda), Dylan and Brendon; great-grandsons, Benjamin and Aiden. She loved her family and often said that she had the most wonderful sister and brothers. Her older sister Gertrude Benson (Bob) of Bear River was nicknamed "Gee" by Margie as a child, a name that has stuck. Her brothers, Harley (Faye) of Virginia East, Phil of Bear River, Harry (Tanya) of Kingston, Ross (Susan) of Cornwallis Park, will miss her as well. Her sister-in-law Lynn Milbury (late Les) of Digby will especially miss her close friendship, more like "sisters" than in-law. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her best friend and loving husband of almost 50 years in 2013 and she missed him dearly. He was her rock. Family and friends meant so much to Margie. If you became friends, you would be a friend for life. Wives of Ron's former navy buddies, Marg Banman, Marlene Chase and Gwen Lord still kept in touch. The same goes for her RBC "family" as she treasured those working years. She appreciated their calls and cards after she retired in 2009 and liked being remembered by her former clients. She made new friends too through the New Horizons Club in Bear River and enjoyed their social activities. She was a big Elvis fan, yes, Elvis. A highlight of her life was when she and Ron toured Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee in 2001. She enjoyed many other trips with Ron as the pilot in his plane- all detailed in her journals. Together they flew across Canada and went to the US several times. Their last big trip was to Cuba, her first all-inclusive vacation at a resort and she loved it. She was a woman of simple tastes and pleasures. She loved a good book, her garden, liked to bake but still enjoyed going out for Sunday breakfasts before church. She loved Nova Scotia and often marveled at its beauty while out for a drive. Her favourite television programs "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" were usually followed by her nightly call to chat with her dear sister Gee before settling down to bed. Cremation has taken place under the care of Jaynes Funeral Home. A memorial service for Margie will be held on Wednesday, May 18,2022 at 2 p.m. at Clementsvale Baptist Church with a reception following. Family requests that masks be worn. Family flowers only. Memorial donations to the New Horizons in Bear River or to the charity of your choice.
Margie may now be flying high or walking hand in hand with Ron as she did years ago. We will miss her.
