Muriel Bates

Bates, Muriel Marguerite, age 92 of Freeport, Digby Co., Nova Scotia passed away on August 5th, 2023 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Muriel is survived by her loving sons, Derek (Susan) and Karl (Lorri) Perry; grandchildren, Lindsay, Karlee, Shannan and Luke; sisters, Janet Swan (Holly), Myrna Coy; brother, Ken Reid (Linda); sister-in-law, Eunice Smith (Ron), and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Rose and Hector Reid; husband, Malcolm Bates; her late husband, Allen Perry; her brothers Louis and Edwin Reid, and her grandson Travis.

Muriel was a member of the Freeport Baptist Church, Super Seniors, and the Rebecca Lodge. She taught and enjoyed line dancing and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary (R.C. Legion Branch # 92). Muriel worked as a medical stenographer for many years. She was a source of strength to the family and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

A private service will be held at a later date and donations in memory can be made to a charity of choice.
