It is with great sadness that the family of Randall Stephen VanTassel announce his passing at Digby General Hospital on September 4, 2025, at the age of 75. Born in Digby, he was the son of the late Shirley and Stevie VanTassel.
Randy will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially hunting. For him, it was not just about the hunt, but the time spent walking in the woods, surrounded by nature. Another one of
Randy's highlights was meeting every Friday with his two brother-in-laws, Rodney and Bobby Stark. He deeply loved his grandsons, who were his pride and joy.
He worked for over 30 years as a clerk at Digby Auto, now Carquest. Randy will be remembered as a calm, good man who was kind to everyone. Anyone he spoke to was treated like a friend.
Randy is survived by his wife, Faye VanTassel; sons, Kelly VanTassel (Kelly-Sue Pyne) and Chris (Jolene) VanTassel; brother Brian (Rose) VanTassel; grandsons, Aaron and Alex VanTassel; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Dougie VanTassel and nephew Joey VanTassel.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Mark Covert for his daily check-ins and phone calls, which meant so much.
Graveside service to be held at a later date.
