Bob was born in Hortonville, NS in 1940. He moved to Weymouth in 1961 at the age of 21 to work on the Fourth Lake Dam. This is where he met and married Donna and began a family. Bob had many jobs throughout the years, driving a Pepsi truck for 15 years, working as an electrician with his father-in-law for a few, selling cars here and there, and as a scaler for Irving until his retirement at the age of 60.
After retirement you could always find Bob parked downtown, talking with friends. He also spent a lot of time with his grandchildren, Haley and Noah whom he thought the world of. At home he loved sitting back watching his Nascar races, talking with Donna and sister-in-law Louise, or watching birds at his birdfeeder which he always ensured was full. Bob also looked forward to the times he spent with family and friends at camp on Long Tusket Lake.
Bob was a great husband, father, grandfather and brother-in-law who was always there to lend a helping hand, he will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters, Shaunacy Beatty (Cody) and Glenda Beatty (Kyle); sister, Judy Marshall (Gary); brother, Michael Beatty (Marilyn); sister-in-law, Louise Gavel (Emery); grandchildren, Haley and Noah as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Robert and Donald Beatty; sisters, Sheila Stewart, Shirley Stewart and brother, Terrance Beatty.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 6-8pm at St. Joseph's Church hall, Weymouth, NS. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia.
