

Swiber, Ruth Myrtle – 95, Digby, passed away May 2, 2011 in Digby General Hospital. Born March 2, 1916 in Clementsport, Ruth was a daughter of the late Owen and Ida (Maughan) Balcomb. Ruth got her schooling in Clementsport, and after marrying her husband Capt. Moyle Swiber, she lived in Upper Clements for 36 years, then in Digby since 1974. While living in Clementsport, Ruth was a member of St. Edward’s Anglican Church, a choir member, a member of the Church Guild, and a Sunday School teacher. While living in Upper Clements, Ruth was a member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Annapolis Royal, a member of the Rectory Guild, a Sunday school teacher and also a substitute school teacher. During the years of World War 2, Ruth was a member of the Local Red Cross Society. Since living in Digby, Ruth was a member of the Digby United Baptist Church, and the WMS. She was a member of the Mary and Martha Club and Bible class, a member of the Non-Denominational Bible class, and a member of the New Horizon’s Club. Ruth is survived by a grandson Andrew Swiber, Stewiacke; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband Capt. Moyle Swiber, daughter Patricia, son Michael, sisters Helen, Marion, Leota and Beatrice, brothers David, Creighton and Fred. Visitation 7-9pm today in Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. Digby (245-2525). Funeral 2pm Friday in Digby United Baptist Church. Rev. Donald Robertson presiding, with Rev. David Ingalls assisting.
