Like my sister Pam, I also enjoyed my vacation visits with Shirley as a little girl especially shopping at The Met. I got to stay in Joanne's room which was such a treat because she had her own record player and lots of Donnie Osmond records. Shirley was my god mother, but she treated everyone the same with memorable cards, gifts, and kindness. She was also my Primary teacher and I remember at Hallowe'en I was dressed as a cat and when we lined up to order our Beep, she said I probably wanted milk because I was a cat. I didn't want milk, I wanted Beep, but back then you didn't argue with the teacher so I said yes to the milk. My most precious gift from her is a Precious Moment statue she managed to find in Digby for me of a little girl signing "I Love You", I work with the Deaf and looked everywhere for it and she found one. She was always thinking of others. She was a beautiful and lovely lady .

My condolences to Uncle Gordon, Joanne, David, Terri-Lynn, Melissa, Bradley, Michael and Judy.

Shirley was a special Aunt to me. I remember fondly spending a week with her and Gordon (and Michael and Joanne) when I was young during the summers in Digby. Trips to Frenchies where she always got amazing clothes. Camping with both our families in PEI. She was a great baker and my favorite was boiled icing on her chocolate cakes, a much looked forward to treat. Receiving letters and cards from her right into my college days and beyond, as well as sending cards with stickers to my girls on special occasions. She always found the most amazing cards that suited the occasion exactly. She was always thoughtful. Of course she was also my Grade Primary teacher at Acadia Elementary School. My one memory of the class is when I wasn’t paying attention and Shirley asked me a question. All the other kids told me to say yes, which I did but apparently the answer was NO. So I got a tut tut from Shirley. It’s been a couple of years since I have visited her. Although communication was sometimes difficult, she still had the same humor and laugh of old. A dear lady who I have always and will continue to think of often with much love. My condolences to Uncle Gordon, Joanne and Michael and to their families.

Shirley was like a second grandmother to me. I will always treasure the memories of her baking for me or knitting me blankets and sweaters. Shirley was such a wonderful woman and this world won’t be the same without her kind soul. Sending all my love to Gordon and family xo

I first met Shirley when she took the One Year Secretarial Course with us in 1976/77. She was so soft spoken and kind. She was working at the hospital when we were taking our firstborn home. Shirley gave me some very wise advice that was so helpful. I’m so thankful I had the chance to know her, and my deepest sympathies to Gordon, Joanne , Michael and all her family and friends. May your memories of Shirley keep her with you always.
