

LUTZ, Thelma Beatrice “Bea” – Age 94, passed away in Tideview Terrace, Digby on March 15th, 2014. Born in Westville (Conway), Digby County on April 3, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Eveleth and Constance Beatrice (VanTassel) Woodman. Bea is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She attended school in Digby and later graduated from Normal College in Truro. Bea taught school for many years starting out in Western Shore, Aylesford, Lake Paul, Sandy Cove, South Range, Acaciaville and finishing in Digby. During her retirement she enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, travelling and playing cards with family and friends, writing poetry and doing crosswords. She was a long time member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Marshalltown where she served as secretary for many years. Bea is survived by her son, Michael (Claudia), Digby; grandchildren, Lyssa (Stephen) McCartney, Dalmellington, Scotland; Craig (Christa), Lower Sackville and great grandson, Jack McCartney. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; sisters in law, Mrs. Allison Lutz, Mrs. Thelma Cross and Mrs. Erma Simpson. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Austin, brothers, Driffield, Coleman, Curry, Edmund “Duke”, Kenneth “Ted”; sisters, Cynthia, Constance “Connie”, Violet “Vi”, Frances and Phyllis. Be request there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
