

Raymond, Trueman Hantford – 84 of Digby passed away peacefully at Digby General Hospital, Jan. 15, 2011. Born October 22, 1926 in East Ferry, he was the son of the late Trueman and Daisy (Frost). Hantford was born and raised in East Ferry. He later moved to Tiddville and finally Digby. Growing up, Hantford played the guitar and along with his wife Jean who played the piano, would fill the house with music. Hantford was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. Hantford had a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime. He worked in a fish plant and had peddled fish and vegetables. Hantford liked to cook and entertain. Hantford loved to witness to people about coming to the Lord. Hantford was a member of the Digby Wesleyan Church. Over the past two years, his homecare worker, Amy Stanton made his home life enjoyable. Hantford thought of her as his own daughter. Hantford leaves behind a brother, Danny (Shirley) ,East Ferry; sister, Ella Taylor, Granville Ferry; five children; son, Glendon (Marion) Millcove, NB; daughters, Sharon (Doug)Farris, Coldbrook; Valerie, Halifax; Nina (Reid) Thibault, Edmonton; Belinda (Ernie) Matheson, Wellington; six grandchildren, Mary-Jean “MJ”; Danny, Krissie, David, Alma-Jean “AJ”; Jeremiah; seven great grandchildren, Keisha, Tony, Brayden, Jocelyn, Gracie, Christopher and Kyle. Hantford was predeceased by wives, Jean (Stanton) and Sharon (Ross); three children in infancy; brothers, Ellard, Glendon and Eugene; sisters, Twilah Brown and Martha Young. Visitation 2-4 & 7-9 Tuesday in Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby (245-2525). The Funeral will be 11:00am Wednesday in Digby Wesleyan Church, Pastor Andrew Maves officiating. Interment in Hillcrest Church, Little River. Donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia or Digby Wesleyan Church.
