

Grimes-Hurst, Vivien F. (Leedham) – Deep Brook, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in Tideview Terrace, Digby. Born in Dartmouth, she was a daughter of the late Charles David and Sophia Leedham. Vivien spent her early years in Dartmouth, where she met and married her husband Lloyd George Hurst in 1941. Vivien located to California in 1953. Vivien’s husband George passed away. Vivien met and married her second husband John Grimes. Vivien and John owned and operated W&G Grocery Store from 1968-1980 in Northfork, California. Her husband John passed away. It was then that Vivien relocated back to Nova Scotia where she resided with her son Peter in Deep Brook. Vivien kept in contact with her good friends in California. Vivien was involved in Scouting growing up, and lead an active life. Vivien will always be remembered as a generous and loving mother. Besides her parents, Vivien was predeceased by two brothers and five sisters, a son David, first husband George Hurst, second husband John Grimes. Vivien was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Vivien is survived by her son Peter George Hurst, Deep Brook; grandchildren Victoria Hurst, California; Wesley Hurst, John Hurst, both of BC; great grandchildren Rosyln and Devyln, California; many loving nieces and nephews. A service will be held at a later date. Donations in Vivien’s memory may be made to Christ Church, Dartmouth.
