Wilhelmina Willy Boomer McIntyre

On July 8, 2012, Willy passed away in her 92nd year, in the presence of family, at Tideview Terrace in Digby, NS. Willy was born in Cambridge, Minnesota. The family later moved to Regina, SK where she grew up. There she met her husband to be, Ralph McIntyre. She moved to the East Coast in 1943 to be married and they eventually settled in Digby in 1949. She worked as a bookkeeper/receptionist for Dr. John McCleave. Willy was a founding member of the Stork Club. The ladies of the Club knit baby sweaters for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Digby Hospital for 40 years. Her life revolved around her family and she loved her role as wife, mother and grandmother. Willy was the daughter of William and Eda Boomer of Regina SK. Willy was predeceased by her husband, Ralph McIntyre, her son, Patrick McIntyre, and her siblings, Fred Boomer, Lee Boomer and Ida McIntyre. Willy will be sadly missed by her family, Joan Small (Roger) of Rothesay NB, Judy Haldemann of Charlottetown, PE and Rose McIntyre of Digby, and her grandchildren, Jon Tracy (Shelley), Nick Haldemann (Jen), Heidi McLarty (Ian), Kimberly McIntyre (Rod), Vanessa Gennette (Néal) and Ryan McIntyre (Sara). Willy is also survived by her great grandchildren, Ashton and Elise Gennette, and Eele and Nola Haldemann, as well as many nieces and nephews. In memory of Willy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the NS Heart and Lung Association or to a charity of your choice. Visitation 7-9 pm with Prayers at 8pm, Tuesday July 10th from Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby (245-2525). Funeral Mass 10am Wednesday July 11th at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Digby.
