Alice Solis Huerta passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026. Alice was surrounded by her loving family in her final resting hours. During her lifetime she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was defined by compassion, generosity and devotion to her family and community.
Alice was born on May 19, 1945, in Richmond, California, to Hignio and Flavia Solis. She is now reunited in heaven with her parents, her two brothers Adam and Henry Solis; her sister, Eva Solis Torres, her infant son, and her beloved granddaughter, Debbie Ann Garcia Felix.
Throughout Alice's childhood, she and her family moved to various areas of the Central Valley as they followed work opportunities, including towns/cities such as Five Points, Fresno and Orosi. In 1962, the Solis family settled temporarily in the town of Orosi for work. It was there that Alice met the love of her life, Pete Huerta. Their families lived next door to one another, and before long, Alice and Pete began dating.
After some time Alice and her family later relocated to Fresno, as one can imagine Pete was not happy with the situation. Pete wasn't about to let the love of his life get away. In October of 1962, Pete left Orosi to "steal away" Alice, and on January 4, 1963, the two were married. They went on to share 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a fulfilling life surrounded by family, love, laughter, and countless memories.
Together, Alice and Pete bore 6 children--three sons and three daughters. Their infant son was taken too soon but he was never forgotten. Alice was a loving and devoted mother who gave everything she had to her children and family. She was also a deeply charitable person who cared not only for her own family, but for the children and families in the community she called home.
To many, Alice was a legend in the Cutler-Orosi community. To everyone who knew her, she was simply Grandma Alice.
Alice was a humble woman, who may not have been perfect, but she always tried her best. She was a person that you could always count on. Alice was always there whenever anyone needed her, this reliability not only applied to her family but as well to her friends and the community. Everyone knew they could always count on Grandma Alice to help them out. Alice always put the needs of others before herself, her generosity knew no bounds.
Her love for children and youth became an especially important part of her life. When her youngest son played football, Alice began volunteering as a team mom and weight master for Dinuba Youth Football program. Her involvement eventually grew into something much bigger. She became a driving force behind the Cutler-Orosi Red Raiders youth football program.
What many people may not have known was just how far Alice's generosity reached. There were children in the community who were able to participate in football because Alice quietly paid their registration fees out of her own pocket. She was an unknown sponsor to many--helping families who were struggling without ever asking for recognition or expecting anything in return.
Alice's charitability only ever had one purpose, she gave because she genuinely cared for others. She cared for those children as if they were her own and simply wanted them to have the opportunity to play a sport they loved. Some of her most joyful memories in her lifetime were during the nearly 30 years her and family ran the youth football program.
She touched more lives than she probably ever realized. Her impact on the Cutler-Orosi community will live on through the many people who knew her, loved her, and benefited from her kindness.
Alice will be remembered for her strong spirit, her giving heart, her unwavering love for her family, and the way she always made room in her heart for others. Her legacy is not only in the family she raised, but in the many lives she touched along the way.
Alice is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Pete huerta; her children, Diana Huerta McClearn and her husband, Blake McClearn; Peter Huerta Jr.; Margie Huerta Salazar and her husband, Fred Salazar; Gloria Huerta; and Adam Huerta and his wife, Sarah Huerta.
She is also survived by her brother, Danny Solis and his wife, Phyllis Solis and her sisters, Andrea Sartain and Linda Ortiz.
Alice was blessed with a large loving family, including 18 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Her family was her greatest treasure, and the love she gave them will continue through every generation that follows.
Alice, Grandma Alice, will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, her friends, the children she helped, and the community she loved so dearly.
May she rest peacefully, surrounded forever by the love she gave so freely to others.
