The time has come to say goodbye to Allaire Toddhunter Bryant who passed away in the late hours of May 3rd. She was born in Selma California on September 6, 1935, to Lucille and Lawrence Toddhunter; both educators. Allaire attended The University of California at Berkley, as well as Fresno State University. She was a proud member of Chi Omega Sorority. Allaire leaves behind her beloved son Collin Bryant, his wife Nikki and her granddaughters Hunter & Hayden. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard Bryant who loved and cared for her very much. Richard ensured that she was safe and well cared for in these last years of her life. Allaire lived the last 15 years with Alzheimer’s dementia. The disease robbed her of the person she was, the ability to enjoy her grandchildren and took from Collin the mom that he loved so much.
Collin feels exponentially lucky to have Allaire as his mom and Richard as his father. They were the best. He lived in a loving home full of hugs and encouragement. Allaire was a teacher prior to his birth and made the decision to dedicate her life to raising him and retired shortly after he was born. Whenever he got discouraged, she always reminded him that whenever he put effort into something and practiced, he could do it. She was always there at all his games and events.... She even made him a munchkin costume for a production of the Wizard of Oz when he was very little.
So many wonderful Christmases, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and you name it holidays that she always made so special. Allaire often invited her son’s college friends to holiday dinners and holidays making sure everyone had fun. It seems like just yesterday he was coming in the door and saying, "Mom I'm home!" It was just the three of them for so long and he will forever miss them both terribly. As a family, they had so many adventures that he will never forget. As was her final wish Allaire will be interned with her father at Belmont memorial cemetery.
You are loved so much mom. Your suffering is now over, rest in peace. We will forever miss you.
