Alvessa Torres

Alvessa, better known as Bessie to her family and friends, was born June 6th, 1931 in Otis, New Mexico. Her family moved to California in 1946 when she was just a teenager. She made Dinuba her home ever since. She met Jesus Torres and they were married January 13, 1949. Bessie worked a variety of jobs till she found the job she was so proud of, driving the school bus for Dinuba School District. She drove for over twenty one years with no accidents, something she bragged about often. She worked awhile longer as the bus yard coordinator till she retired after twenty five years.

Bessie and Jesus never had any children but she loved to be around her family and her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Her home was always open to family and when visiting she would always have something delicious for you to eat. Bessie was a kind hearted, generous sister and tia that will be greatly missed by many.

Preceded in death by her parents, Fermin and Dorotea Reyes, her husband, Jesus Torres and her brothers Mike Reyes and Simon Reyes. She is survived by her sisters Eva Diaz and Dominga Bustamante, her godchildren, Domina Hoffman (Arroyo) and Gabriel Chavarria II and her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
