Christopher Mark Young passed peacefully, at age 67, on October 16, 2017, with his family by his side. He grew up in Dinuba, California, where he returned after graduating in 1973 from the University of Pacific in Stockton, California with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. He will be remembered for his joy of laughter, the twinkle in his eyes, and the kindness of his heart. Chris' mind was sharp and logical; his personality charming and winsome.
Chris was the 3rd child and first son of his loving and proud parents, David and Pearl Young of Dinuba. After marrying Virginia Shiba, they had two wonderful children, Brent and Kristin.
Chris co-founded El Monte Drugs, and then managed the family grocery store, the United Market. Chris resumed and ended his career as a pharmacist at the local Walgreen's.
Chris lived life fully with laughter and levity and was loved by many. Aside from his wife, children, and parents, Chris is survived by his siblings, Lana, Rita, Doris and Paul, and their families. Special recognition is given to Julie Salinas of Community Regional Medical Center who, for many years, guided Chris through the management of his diabetes and its complications with kindness and compassion.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 9am at the Presbyterian Church of Dinuba, 1250 E. Nebraska Ave., Dinuba, California followed by burial at Smith Mountain Cemetery.
