Dolores (Lola) Curiel Valdez, born April 8, 1926 in Magdalena, Jalisco-Mexico to Juan and Maria Cruz Curiel, was called home by the Lord on March 3, 2026 at the age of 99. In 1930, she, her parents and older brother Alonzo, migrated to the United States and settled in Dinuba; a town she would call home for the rest of her life. Lola, being an oldest child, would leave school after 8th grade to help care for and raise her siblings. When she was able to work outside of the home, she did a variety of jobs, from eld work to sales in various department stores. The most gratifying of her jobs was interpreting for the local courts and the Mexican Consulate. In 1965, she married Ascencion Valdez. They never had any children of their own, however she was very much a mother figure to her younger siblings and was a caring aunt, great aunt, cousin and true friend to many. Lola loved to eat at her favorite restaurants (Perko’s and Hong Kong) and loved to play BINGO at the Senior center with family. She always wore her lucky bracelets.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ascencion, her parents Juan & Maria Cruz Curiel, her siblings Alonzo, Ernie, John and Joe Curiel. She is survived by her sisters Jovita (Obie) Cabrera, Jessie Rojas, Bertha Martinez, Gabie Camacho Abina, Eloise Herrera and her precious fur baby Osito. Lola was an amazing and caring member of our family and she will be greatly missed.
