Leopoldo Chavez Martinez

Con profundo amor y pesar, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Leopoldo Chávez Martínez, de 86 años, residente de Dinuba, California, el jueves 3 de julio de 2025. Leopoldo nació en Uriangato, Guanajuato, México, hijo de Julia Martínez y J. Carmen Chávez.

Esposo, padre, abuelo, bisabuelo y tatarabuelo devoto, la mayor alegría de Leopoldo fue su familia—especialmente sus nietos, quienes llenaron su vida de orgullo y felicidad. Estuvo casado por más de 50 años con su amada esposa, Juana Flores de Chávez, con quien formó un legado hermoso de amor, fe y unidad familiar.

Leopoldo fue un hombre de profunda fe y firmes valores. Temeroso de Dios, vivió con humildad, fortaleza y compasión. Amaba el béisbol, disfrutaba de la naturaleza y valoraba las cosas sencillas de la vida. Su espíritu amable, su sonrisa cálida y su sabiduría tranquila serán profundamente extrañados por todos los que lo conocieron.

Le sobreviven su esposa Juana y sus hijos: Martín, Lucía, Consuelo, Fernando, Miguel, Mario, Imelda, Leopoldo y Angélica Chávez. Leopoldo deja también un gran legado de 28 nietos, 24 bisnietos y 3 tataranietos, quienes llevarán siempre en alto su memoria y su ejemplo.

Leopoldo fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, J. Carmen Chávez y Julia Martínez.

La vida de Leopoldo fue un testimonio de amor, perseverancia y fe. Su recuerdo vivirá para siempre en los corazones de quienes lo amaron.

En memoria de Leopoldo, se realizará una vigilia el miércoles 16 de julio de 2025, de 5:00 PM a 8:00 PM, en la Iglesia Católica Santa Catalina de Siena, ubicada en 356 N Villa Ave, Dinuba, CA 93618. Se rezará el rosario durante el velatorio a las 6:00 PM en el mismo lugar. La misa funeral se celebrará el jueves 17 de julio de 2025 a las 10:30 AM, también en la Iglesia Católica Santa Catalina de Siena. Después de la misa, el entierro tendrá lugar en el Cementerio Smith Mountain, ubicado en 42088 Rd 100, Dinuba, CA 93618.

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Leopoldo Chavez Martinez, age 86, of Dinuba, California, on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Leopoldo was born in Uriangato, Guanajuato, Mexico to Julia Martinez and J. Carmen Chavez.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great great-grandfather, Leopoldo’s greatest joy in life was his family—especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness. He was married for over 50 years to his beloved wife, Juana Flores de Chavez, and together they built a beautiful legacy of love, faith, and togetherness.

Leopoldo was a man of deep faith and strong values. A God-fearing man, he led his life with humility, strength, and compassion. He loved baseball, enjoyed being surrounded by nature, and cherished life’s simple pleasures. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and quiet wisdom will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Juana, and their children: Martin, Lucia, Consuelo, Fernando, Miguel, Mario, Imelda, Leopoldo, and Angelica Chavez. Leopoldo also leaves behind a legacy of 28 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his memory and spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Carmen Chavez and Julia Martinez.

Leopoldo's life was a testament to love, perseverance, and faith. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

In loving memory of Leopoldo a visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, located at 356 N Villa Ave, Dinuba, CA 93618. A rosary will take place during the visitation at 6:00 PM at the same location. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10:30 AM, also at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Following the mass, interment will occur at Smith Mountain Cemetery, located at 42088 Rd 100, Dinuba, CA 93618.
